Search Resuls for: Amenity

A while back we told you about the eco-friendly bedding designers at Amenity, who turn bedrooms into green rooms by making bedding from only organic and sustainable materials like hemp and organic cotton. Formed by longtime friends Kristina de Corpo and Nicole Chiala to provide an air of the rural tranquility of their youths to their urban adult environs, Amenity specializes in creating “monochromatic toned large-scale botanical silhouettes” that seem to please both the male and female aesthetic sensibilities. Luckily for those of us who are in need of bedding and having our aesthetic sensibilities appealed to, Amenity has a new line of nature-inspired bedspreads linens and pillows for Spring ‘08 that are sure to make you feel close to the Mother Nature while being nice to her at the same time.

A few weeks ago, I had the unfortunate task of mediating a disagreement between two friends of mine. Having recently moved in together, they’re struggling with merging their two individual styles into one coherent decorating scheme. It was no surprise (to me, at least) that this specific argument was regarding bedding choices, and namely her insistence on a floral motif, regardless of the fact he’s not a floral-y, frilly kinda guy. Doing my part to preserve what could actually be true love, I suggested they check out Amenity, an eco-friendly line featuring monochromatic toned large-scale botanical silhouettes, printed on organic cotton. Their verdict? An utterly perfect compromise for two vastly different tastes– she gets her flowers without emasculating him. And if you’re looking to infuse a little color into your life their Peacock Collection is currently on sale, leaving you no excuse to continue the co-habitation under your boyfriend’s ratty old dorm room duvet.

I’ve always known that giving chocolate is the customary and ‘correct’ thing to do for Valentines Day– to the point where there are TV commercials telling me that if I don’t get my girlfriend Russell Stover chocolate for V-day, she will send me swiftly to the dog house (no joke). But this takes the gift of chocolate to a whole new level: at the Hakone Kowakien Yunessun, a spa in Hakone, Japan (which is outside Tokyo at the base of Mt. Fuji), you can give your significant other the gift of a chocolate bath! While it’s not pure Ghiradelli, or Godiva, or Dagoba, or New Tree, or even Hershy’s, it is a mixture of water, cacao, and therapeutic bath powders. And as an added bonus, you will get chocolate syrup squirted all over you by the spa staff– that’s icing on the cake if you ask me! Finally, if you really want to take it over the top, take a look at what other amenity the spa offers.
