Dan Ziglam and Elliot Brook are the directors of UK-based design firm, Deadgood, where everything they make is “deadgood”. The young company has already made Elle Decoration's ‘Brit Talent Hot List' and Design Week's '50 People Making a Difference in Design' for their innovative Form chairs, wire table lamps, bookshelves and hangers. We, of course, love great furniture design, but Deadgood really made our radar when they announced an upcoming collaboration with Jon Burgerman. The doodle chair is screen-printed with a resin-impregnated craft core, overlaid with melamine and pressed at high temperature. It recently made a successful debut in New York and is expected to launch in September. Completely awesome.

Art on the Internet is permanent in many ways, yet ephemeral in others. Things sell out, pictures are removed, sites fade away, links get broken. There's also a lot of art out there that's not meant to last forever. Maybe it gets lost or worn out or removed or eaten up. Doodlesplatter was born out of a desire to present a complete, centralized “artkive” of the work of Jon Burgerman. With just a few clicks, you'll see Jon illustrate that any surface can be a canvas. Whether you're sick on a plane (airplane vomit bag) or stuck in the rain (umbrella collab with SIZE?), Jon's doodles are there to captivate and bring cheer. Doodlesplatter catalogs over 300 items from Jon’s expansive portfolio, with options to search by medium, use and year. The frequently updated blogography features doodles by Jon exclusive to the project, the infamous lost Doodle Beat interview, brilliant web design by The Neon Hive and a complete case of OCD by me.

Artoyz Elements Alpha Series was released throughout France this past weekend and is heading for U.S. shores next. The series is the inspiration of French artist Easy Hey from the Delkographik collective and proposes that all matter in the world is based on the four elements of water, air, earth and fire. Once the four new platform shapes were formed, Elements Prologue and Elements First Degree quickly followed. But now, the pièce de résistance is here: The Elements Alpha Series is made up of 22 gorgeous figures by 20 international designers: SKWAK, Steph Cop, RUN, Pulco Mayo, Koralie, KOA, Grems, Flying Fortress, Jon Burgerman, ARTIZARNAL, Superdeux, NYNO, MIST (deep breath) iLK, YOKAIKAI, Nathan Jurevicius, GREGOS, Supakitch,  Bwana Spoons and Jean Spezial. Individual figures are expected to cost about $10. If you buy a case of 25, you’re guaranteed 19 out of 20 unique figures. If you buy just one case of blind-boxed figures this year, this is the one to get.

Prolific U.K. doodler Jon Burgerman flies across the pond this week to collaborate with Brooklyn-by-way-of-Berlin pop artist Jim Avignon at Brooklyn’s Factory Fresh. “Anxiety Room” continues a theme familiar to Burgerman fans (as seen in sculptures like WorryKnott and the London installation, Anxiety Wall). On opening night, Thursday, February 12th, Jon and Jim will engage in a live painting called Anxiety Broom. The show runs through March 15th.

eBoy is everywhere. If you’re a geek, you saw their poster for MakerFaire. If you like beats, you picked up the latest issue of BPM. And if you collect toys, you have an opinion on their Peecol figures. Now eBoy has teamed up with JoshSpear favorite ROJO for the production of a limited edition monographic book entitled Schmock. The 160-page book contains photos and art in the eBoy style. You can pick up a copy for 30 Euros, or indulge in the bookpack where you get all four “new edicions” (Clayton Brothers, Veljko Onjin, eBoy and Robert Hardgrave) for the price of three. Have a look at the rest of the ROJO shop too. Toy fans may want to pick up copies of the mongraphic books by Dalek, Friends With You and Jon Burgerman. All ROJO editions are limited to 500 copies.

Jon Burgerman is one of the most prolific illustrators in the U.K. His doodles have adorned platform toys, shirts and skate decks. On September 25th, when Kidrobot drops The Heroes of Burgertown, he can add a line of mini-figures to his portfolio. Fans of Jon’s style will recognize characters like Coco Gulab Jaman who’ve popped up throughout the years, even appearing as figures in a 2006 Artoyz show. The premise for the new series is that each character has been made into a toy as a reward for their achievements in Burgertown. Says Jon: “It’s a gentle jab at the cult of celebrity and how it’s the dubious accomplishments that usually get rewarded with recognition.” The blind-boxed vinyl series contains 16 standards and two chase figures and will retail for $7.95 each.

Husband-wife design team Vivian Cheng and Eric Jean-Louis (Blend Creations) were reading about the fate of children in war-torn countries when they hit upon a question many of us in the arts often ponder: “How do I save the world with a really great piece of jewelry or an illustration?” In reply, the duo have launched Metal for Monsters, a jewelry collaboration with a handful of illustrators and toy designers. S.britt, Stefan G. Bucher, Jon Burgerman, Anna Chambers, Justin Hillgrove, Adam Koford, John Martz, Jay Stephens and Brian Taylor have all supplied Blend Creations with really cool monster art to be made into pendants. Each laser-etched, stainless steel pendant features an illustration on the front with the artist’s signature and number (out of 100) on the back. For each pendant purchased, $16 will be donated to UNICEF. Vivian and Eric are currently working out the details of production and preparing for a launch date.

Thanks to the show “Pimp My Ride”, turning an automobile into a blender or an XBox on wheels doesn’t seem so strange. While XZibit and the crew at West Coast Customs may have cornered the market on turning cars into complex appliances, Tim Roberts would like to make his mark by turning your car into a work of art. The founder of Infectious Car Art first experienced the miracle of the moving canvas when his college roommate paid a muralist $1,000 to paint his favorite character on a beat up old hatchback. The problem with that was that the decoration was permanent. Roberts company has remedied this problem by creating easy to install and remove vinyl designs created by some of the dopest designers around. Zeptonn, Dalek, and Jon Burgerman are just some of the names responsible for creating some of the most divine decals available to adhere to your automobile, whether you drive an Audi… or AMC.

Remember those ODM Watches I blogged about back in November of 2004? If you’re just tuning in, probably not. Either way, the original watches were a huge hit– winning the prestigious Red dot design award and the IF design award in China. One of our favorite character illustrators/animators recently designed his own set– extremely limited edition and very hard to find, until now. The Jon Burgerman ODM watch was made in conjunction with the Trexi ‘We Speak Football’ series. Functions of the watch are the same, it’s still motion sensitive, and still made of super-comfortable soft white silicone. If you’re unfamiliar with Burgerman’s work, check him out. His wrapping paper and card series (sold out quickly unfortunately) are perfect additions to any holiday arsenal. The watch is £85 shipped inside the UK and £95 outside the UK. One more detail shot of the watch and box after the jump…

Mimoco is back again, this time with a beautiful collaboration with British artists TADO and Jon Burgerman from Flying Cat. This first design called Hero, by TADO, is “a lovable but hapless rogue, desperately trying to make his way in the world as a fortune-hunting swashbuckler! Hero loves baking and jigsaws.” Available in several sizes and with only 500 piece made these Mimobots are clearly the best in designer USB flash drives, period.
