If there’s one thing we could use during this recession-marred holiday season, we’d have to go with savings. If there were a second thing we could tack on, we’d say, “how about some top notch tees from one of our favorite design houses?” Thanks to Momimomi we’ll be able to check both of those boxes off of our wishlist. Starting today, the tee company unleashes some quality holiday creations for ‘08 along with some special discounts for a few preferred customers — namely our readers. Yes, you’ll have the honor of receiving 25% off orders of $100 and above. As a bonus you’ll even be able to save a major amount of money on Momimomi’s TEeA Party subscriptions. The service that sends you one of a kind wearables at least once-a-month usually costs $360 for a 12-month subscription but for now you’ll only have to tender a mere $270. Just use our holiday discount code: MMholidayJS. Sounds like quite a deal if you ask us.

The Gift: Unfortunately, in today’s economy, giving someone the shirt off your back is no longer just a colloquial saying. People are literally wandering around homeless, jobless, and topless. Momimomi can’t have this. They need to clothe you in their unique, colorful, one-of-a-kind tees — at least once a month. Which is why they’re giving away a free three-month subscription to their TEea Party T-shirt of the month club (worth $120).

The Rules: We love ____ of the month clubs. Report back here (as a short link in the COMMENTS section) with the craziest club you can find. And a bacon of the month club isn’t crazy — it’s delicious. Only one entry per reader. Duplicate entries will be discarded.

The Deadline: Contest starts now and runs through midnight on 12/15.

Momimomi has taken on an “everything must go” mentality as they kick off their big Summer sale. With a new site launch slated for the fall, prices have been slashed so that you can get your claws on some quality tees for low, low prices (and so they can stock their virtual shelves with fresh new items). Every single shirt will be available for less than $30. So if you’re got the need … the need for tees, there’s never been a better (or cheaper) time to get to shoppin’.

Last week I did something new around here, for the first time ever, I made a product, and tried to sell it. It was pretty funny, because in all honesty, I wasn’t trying to sell 100 t-shirts to make any money — it was just to make a great product and experience the whole process. Some readers who just joined us might have forgotten that last December I pledged 10% of my sites profits straight to charity. I intend on doing that again this year, hopefully raising the bar for other sites to do the same.

After receiving some loud criticism from readers on the price tag of the Momimomi X Josh Spear T-Shirt, I immediately decided to donate 100% of my profits to a charity that you, the readers of this site, help me choose and decide on.

Here’s the catch: I won’t be lowering the price, but my hope is to help facilitate the giving of a couple thousand dollars this year through the sales of this shirt to those in need. So, if you’d like to make someone’s life better in a developing country, support research on clean water efforts or anything else we’re all passionate about (comment below), as a bonus, get what we think is a brilliant and fun limited edition t-shirt for your contribution.

If you make the donation and get the shirt, please leave comments here or via the feedback form on where you’d like to see the money go.

Over the next month you’re going to see itemized lists, broken down into separate categories for your easy perusal, and all you’ll need to do to get to those posts is hit the “gifts” tag at the bottom of any of them. If you have any suggestions for a list, feel free to hit us up at feedback at josh spear dot com. If you’re staying in today (instead of braving the malls and stores), we salute your intelligence. If not, try not to get arrested. Happy holidays!

We know that “The T-shirt” is a subject on which many of you have been jaded. Overdone, overproduced, overplayed (and we push the play button as much as anybody), t-shirts today are not the simple product they were five years ago. There’s too many, most of them suck, and, well, you’re almost too over it to care. However, in one of the last posts that you will find on JS about the omnipresent tee (okay, not really, we’re gonna keep it up, but less fervently and more selectively), we’re going to take it back to the beginning, when a baby-soft shirt was something that took years- not dollars- to create; when wearing an awesome tee made you feel arty instead of like a sellout; when dropping out of college to start a clothing company was still a (kinda) legit thing to do.

If you’ve been a JoshSpear.com reader for awhile, you are no stranger to momimomi. If you’ve only been a reader for the last three weeks, you should still be acquainted with the company, as they are one of a scant few clothing lines that have been making their way to our pages for the better part of two years. When I worked in a clothing boutique not so many years ago, momimomi was one of the only brands of tees to be kept, season after season, on rotation. The deal is simple: momimomi has been making buttery tees for a long time, and they’ve been killing it since day one. We write about them because we love them, because they’ve earned it, and sort of because…they started it. So, readers*, in one of the last full-length mentions of “fecking incredible t-shirts” you’ll be hearing on here for awhile, we give you momimomi…

(like everything they do – these answers were a collaboration between Danny and Olin, momimomi’s founders):

Joshspear.com: So Danny is a businessman by training and Olin is an Architect. What led you two into fashion design?

Danny & Olin: In the beginning, momimomi was a creative outlet for us. We had corporate 9 to 5’s that didn’t help stimulate our imaginations – so our plan was purely to use the t-shirt as a medium for expression. We didn’t have plans, initially, to enter the “fashion” game….and still stay somewhat on the periphery. READ MORE…

One of the most exciting times of my hectic mail openage each month is when my new Momimomi TEeA Party T-shirt arrives. Don’t remember? It’s the sexy subscription t-shirt program where every month I receive an uber-exclusive, sickeningly soft and beautifully designed t-shirt from the geniuses over at Momimomi. They’re now celebrating the first six months of t-shirt love, but there is still time to join the party with either 3, 6 or 12 month subscriptions. This first year’s run (6 months left) are of a mere 100 tees per design for us members. Pop by the site and check them out — it’s a great gift opportunity for yourself, if you’re a t-shirt hound like myself.

I know Josh is a huge fan of the Momi TEea Party, the super limited-edition t-shirt subscription service by the folks at momimomi. So, whilst perusing this morning’s JC Report, I came across a similar concept from offered by Swedish outfit, T-post. When you sign up, you’ll receive a new t-shirt every six weeks. While momimomi’s offerings aren’t thematic or related, T-post chooses current news topic to base their designs around, which is then explained on the interior tag. Prices run at 26 Euros or $US32, which, if you think about it, is about as much you’re going to be spending on that lame ironic tee from Urban Outfitters, anyways.

We’ve received some hilarious entries so far and I can’t wait to pick the winners and share them with all of you. Read the details and get to work!

In order to help spread warm holiday cheer this season, JoshSpear.com is hosting the first Momi TEeA PARTY Naughty Limerick Competition. Entrants are required to submit no more than one naughty limerick, the content of which loosely fits under the broad theme of “the holidays”. While it’s not requisite that limericks be “dirty”, the judging staff does wish to express their belief that when it comes to a really good limerick, naughty is always better than nice…

By way of a brief refresher course in the art of the limerick, the follow example is provided.

‘there once was a boy named danny
who had a secret crush on his nanny
under the mistletoe he stood
holding his wood
waiting for some yule tide fanny’

Rules, Prizes, Deadlines:

• Only ONE limerick may be submitted per entrant.

• ONE winner will be chosen each week (12/15, 12/22. & 12/29) – submissions must be in by 9pm est on the dates listed.

• The winning limerick’s author will receive a 3-month subscription to the Momi TEeA PARTY.

• ONE honorable mention will also be chosen each week and receive a momimomi tee of their choice (availability permitting).

• Email your entries to momi[at]joshspear.com
