After prior partnerships, with the likes of Wood Wood and DPM, you could say that Penfield is no stranger to dope collaborative. This Fall season they’ve prepared yet another piece de resistance by joining forces with NYC based streetwear store Alife Rivington Club to churn out a technically taut wind-runner jacket, the stylish and shipshape 100% nylon A.R.C. Penfield jacket. It comes in three color combinations full ofouterwear amenities such as pouch pockets, an adjustable hood, and elastic cuffs.

Only having one day (really 26 hours) in Taipei was a big ol’ tease, luckily I’ll be spending another day there on the way back home. I did manage to check a few pretty nice shops I found walking around last night– one of them was a place called Patchwork– a small-modern designer toy shop. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many tiny Kubricks and Bearbricks in one place. They were all lined up along the walls with numbers and prices, pretty neat. The shop called it self ‘where apparel, toys and design collide’. Well, whatever back street I ended up on was an absolute blast at night. A few doors down from Patchwork there was a sneaker shop called Magnetic– it reminded me of the Alife Rivington Club in NYC, hardwood floors, shoes behind glass, the works. Unfortunately they were totally over-protective and wouldn’t let me take any pictures for a write up, so they just won’t get one.

Freshness Mag has a great feature about the past, present, and future of the Alife brand. If you’re unfamiliar with Alife — that brand has been at the forefront of ‘cool’ trendsetting for a long time. They recently opened a new store in Vancouver, and one at 158 Rivington, replacing their older 178 Orchard Street location. The new location is right next to the Alife Rivington Club (their shoe shop which is more like a country club than a sneaker shop). After passing by a tank of piranhas chewing on an Alife t-shirt, you’re in the new shop which is full of Alife edition sneakers, jeans, shirts, hats and jewelry.
