Our pals at dbclay have extended a rather irresistible offer to our readers, and it goes something to the tune of doodly-dum-HALF OFF-doo-dada. Yep, not quite sure how they decided y’all are worthy of nailing their current collection of earth-amenable pocket pals at cost — but nonetheless, they did, they are super cheap, and they are as awesome as ever. Well, awesomer actually, because once you get your wallet in the mail, put the money you would have spent on it into it, and you’ll be smiling from here to, oh, about your next five burritos.

Portland’s db clay has done it again … on the eco-friendly tip, of course. Besides the fact that they’re handmade (and honestly, who takes such pride in wallet craftsmanship anymore?), the version 3.1 design patterns are fairly off-the-wall. We don’t use this term lightly. The new collection has oddities like Mr. Diggles Razors, Childhood Chores, and Slow Bugs, all of which come from of the minds of madmen on a mission to make a money minder. Please do us, and yourself, a big favor and check out their new website. We’ll also let you in on a little secret. Use promo code: spear20 at checkout to get 20% off your order. Now get out of here before we change our minds.

We’ve waxed poetic about Portland based company db clay’s cow-free wallets before, and we truly believe you’d be hard-pressed to find a better looking eco-friendly bifold. In fact, the only thing better than one of their wallets could be knowing that yours is one of a kind – something that db clay has made possible through their new project, Puzzle. Puzzle is a gallery of 500 gaffer tape wallets, all entirely unique and hand printed and painted by Alex Steckly. As of today, there are 432 of these arty money holders (or maybe just “ID holders,” assuming you’re an artist yourself) are left for the nabbing, which means heading in that direction will certainly prove overwhelming if only for the sheer sexiness of duct tape. And girls, if you’re starting to hunt down Chrismukkah presents, boys of all types seem to really appreciate these for obvious reasons — check some of those man gifts off your list here.

While checking out the recently prettified blog of our Portland-based friends at db clay (we’re super excited about their forthcoming series of environmentally-friendly wallets), I fell hard for a new and glorious form of media player. SplashCast, a new start-up also based in Portland, enables users to create streaming media “channels” that mix together music, video, text, photos, narration, and RSS Feeds, as well as PowerPoint presentations and PDFs. SplashCast is a “skinless” media player, which means that it is wonderfully adaptable to individual sites’ branding and design- in other words, the player will blend seamlessly into whatever you’ve got going for you, without any rubbish YouTube borders, etc. SplashCast also makes it easier to track views, something that can help you figure out whether to keep up your daily posts or call it quits (just kidding; you write because you love it, right?). Because SplashCast is free — and from what I can tell, easy to use — you have little reason not to try it out. Download this little gem here, then let us know what you think.

We know, wallets made out of duct tape aren’t exactly fresh news, but the latest class of Portland based db clay’s gaffing tape works of art are begging for (and very deserving of) attention. Twelve new designs, set to be released in June, were unveiled at Project NY and The New York International Gift Fair recently, and I’m entirely impressed by the new direction db clay seems to have taken in this series. Photo prints and artwork have always provided inspiration for the design of their wallets (which would probably survive any number of natural disasters; freaking duct tape, I swear…) but these latest are almost elegant, whereas past offerings were still good, but a little more abstract and a little less arresting. It’s too bad girls look dumb with change-filled pockets, otherwise I would have a tough time finding a good reason not to buy this Whipping Tail wallet (featuring the photographic brilliance of Graeme Mitchell) when the time comes. Hmm, maybe I just need a temporary boyfriend with a June birthday.
