Alex & Chloe: Fork You Necklace: Read JS Review | Buy It ($50)
Because sometime you just can’t say it out loud — especially in the same breath as “Happy Holidays.”

Bumboo Tees: Read JS Review | Buy It ($58 – $68)
Bamboo tees are worth their weight in … oh, that’s right, they don’t weigh anything. Awesome.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac x JC in the Sky with Diamonds Collection: Read JS Review | Buy It
Wearable … nah. But I have no doubt of this collection’s historical and artistic significance, so buy something before it winds up at Christie’s, even if it’s just a minifig.

Reebok Bowery Pop-Up Shop: Read JS Review
You only have until Dec 14th to make it to Reebok’s NYC Pop-Up, but shopping after then sucks a big, fat Santa anyway — and also makes you a slacker. Get thee to the Eighties (eh, 169 Bowery).

Richard Haines Sketches: Read JS Review | Buy It
We didn’t think to ask Richard if this gift was even a possibility (oops), but a stylee friend would love a Haines sketch … or better yet, a sketch of him/herself by Haines.

Saint Augustine Academy Reverence Tee: Read JS Review | Buy It ($75)
Look close enough at this tee and you’ll find God. And you thought it was just fashion.

Atmos x K-Swiss: Read JS Review | Buy It
You have to hand it to K-Swiss, the often forgotten brand is being “reborn” and what better way to make a mark than to collaborate with Japanese powerhouse Atmos? Great attention to detail and subtle but distinctive colorways make these kicks a sure bet.

Ospop Shoes: Read JS Review | Buy It ($76)
I know they didn’t originate it but for me the whole clothing with a story concept started with Trovata. Since then, brands like Ospop have put their own spin on things. These shoes are modeled after the same ones used by Chinese blue-collar workers. Needless to say they are updated for durability and comfort. Check them out!

Gram Designs Shoes: Read JS Review | Buy It ($122)
Hailing from Sweden, Gram shoes has been a perennial SuFu (Superfuture) favorite. The interesting materials, most notably waxed cotton, give the shoes a uniqueness and sense of character, not unlike raw denim.

JackThreads: Read JS Review | Buy It
If you’re still wandering up and down the aisles at Macy’s like someone in home furnishings lobotomized you, try JackThreads. If you still can’t find a decent fashion statement, we throw our hands up. Or just throw up. Or both.

Designers Shipley & Halmos are down at New York’s Den, a venue for various designers’ pop-up stores — and why aren’t you down there now? The entire fall collection is available, showcased in a setting styled after Robert Wiene’s 1921 Expressionist film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, which will be projected along with a Shipley & Halmos animated short. The collection features the signature conservative style of the former Trovata designers, with just a touch of wild side. It will be running until the end of November.

Our darling friends over at Refinery29 are back again this year with their second installment of The Countdown, offering insight to the collections of five different labels in the lead up to Fashion Week. In collaboration with Myspace, the video offerings are made available every Friday, kicking off last week with Thom Browne, following this week with (ex-Trovata, perpetually gorgeous) Shipley & Halmos, with Erin Fetherston, Band of Outsiders and Preen still to come. Click here for all the episodes, past and present — or watch this week’s, above. Fantastic work as always, guys.

Dear Josh,

In case you were having trouble deciding what to gift us with for the holidays, we made it easy for you. Happy Holidays!

Love, Your Staff.

Kimberly Baker Jewelry: Kimberly Baker’s necklaces, bracelets, and earrings pack plenty of gold and silver girliness, but it’s their edgy sass that really keeps me me pacified (and out of Hot Topic. Heh.) This is the necklace I’m currently coveting, if only because what it will say is up to me.

A Painting by Shannon Bonatakis: Shannon’s wide-eyed oil paintings start off innocently, then transition into something darkly realistic. They’re beautiful, relatable, and painstakingly perfect – and if I were to get one for Christmas, I could probably skip that whole “get drunk so you’ll be nice to your family” thing.

Zac Efron: Zac can sing, dance, and lift me above his head with one arm. In other words, he’s should be a gay Chippendales dancer – but he somehow wound up as a hot babe instead. The four years between us (and stupid Minnie Mouse) means he probably won’t be making it under my tree by Christmas morning, but hey, this is a wishlist.

Evan Kessler

13-Inch Macbook: My PowerBook G4 (or Gary Sinise as I like to call him) just celebrated his 4th birthday. I'd like to give him a baby brother…and then sell Gary Sinise for scraps.

A Photo of Robin Williams Visiting My Blog: After Kevin Costner made the scene in early September the 2nd mission of ”If I Blog It They Will Come” has been an uphill struggle. I'm hoping for a little holiday magic.

Financial Security:This painting from Wants For Sale costs $1 Million. Owning it would allow me to start a website called Wants For Re-Sale. Once I sold the million-dollar painting I could buy up all of the other things on Wants for Sale and sell them, making it one of the more effective pyramid schemes in recent memory.

iPhone: Do I really need to link to this one? I held out for as long as I could, trying not to be another sheep. But the fact of the matter is: I WANT AN iPHONE. I love the fact that I can get rid of something in my daily pocket supply (or replace it). I love the fact that I can figure out what I want to order for dinner on my way home from work, look up the number, call, order, and pick it up between leaving work and arriving home. And it might make me use Twitter a little more often. That said, the plan is to try and hold out for v2 with the faster network connection.

Patagonia Cashmere Hoody: I’m not much of a clothes hound. I’m not usually one to drool over cashmere. But I do love Patagonia’s stuff. I picked up two pair of Shop Pants recently and I love them! And there’s just something about this hoody that’s cozy, comfy, wintry, and awesome. That said, I just can’t justify $290 on it for myself. So if someone feels like sending me a completely superfluous gift, this is near the top of my list.

Ricoh GR Digital: This one may not count given that I just purchased it…but I purchased it because I wanted it! I’ve been itching for one of these babies for about six months now. Deemed the perfect camera for street photography, especially for the photographer who’s looking for something with a little more control, the GRD will (hopefully) be the perfect companion to my Digi-Rebel for all around pocket travel.

Phuong-Cac Nguyen

Fluevog Stripe Buckle: This unisex John Fluevog Stripe Buckle is classy in a retro, hot rod way. I’ve suddenly discovered the benefits of a belt, but this accessory of an accessory gives more meaning to a belt than just an item to hold up your pants.

Lomo Diana+ Camera: Besides being gorgeous, this 1960s camera model originally from Hong Kong and brought back to the 21st century by Lomo is supposed to take the kind of photos that make it seem like you know what you’re doing. Learning how to properly use a non-digital camera is my 2008 new year’s resolution and this would be a step in the right direction.

750 Swag Bag: I’m no big baller, but I could at least pretend to be one and get away with it if I were sporting this super-luxe, leather 750 Swag Bag from gym to mall.

Heather Ann Snodgrass

PUMA Toploader Bag in Black: I’ll admit, I have a little bit of a laptop bag problem. Okay, I have two problems; one being I own about six of them, and the second being I have a problem with every single one of them being dysfunctional in at least three ways. I was looking at this bag a few weeks ago, thinking about the issues I have with all my others (size, visual appeal, functional pockets, accessibility) and found nothing wrong with it. Makes sense, as these were inspired by bike messengers.

Christian Louboutin Penny Loafers: Shoes are my happy place. These shoes would make me grin so hard, next Christmas I’ll be asking for Botox.

CB2 Loft Sofa: My apartment has proven a nightmare to fit a couch into — by my calculations, this would actually fit into my front door and *not* look like a living room abomination. Plus, I took an impromptu almost nap on one this weekend in Soho, and that’s always a good sign.

Jamie Starr

Zai Spada Stone Core Skis: Swiss boutique ski manufacturer Zai decided to make these stone core skis, and while I’m not convinced that stone is the best material to be putting into high-performance skis, the idea intrigues me from a design standpoint. Skis with visible Grisons granite stone wrapped in carbon fiber, production limited to 111 pairs, $5000 sticker price…why the hell not?

Illy Francis Francis X1 Trio: Pure and simple, Illy has earned a special place in my heart with the way their machines and espresso pods come together to harmoniously birth near-perfect and consistent espresso. Santa, this particular unit would spruce my kitchen up quite nicely with its retro-futuristic design owed to Italian architect Luca Trazzi.

Shipley & Halmos Black Suit: When Sam and Jeff departed Trovata and started scheming their new label, I was excited to see how their clothes would depart from the Trovata mold. They’ve made a nice departure indeed. I figure that my first ensemble from them should include this “good fitting black suit,” most likely available at Barney’s in NYC (if they’re not sold out by now). I want to wear it on New Years Eve, so maybe you should expedite it to me.

David Vo

Sora Pot: I’ve waited over two years for designer Joey Roth to bring his 3D design off the computer monitor and into a tangible product. A product that brings together my admiration for good design and my obsession with tea is a surefire winner.

2008 Trek Madone 5.2 Pro: I would by lying if I said I was an avid cyclist but when I am out of excuses, I do love riding a 15 mile loop that takes me through north Santa Barbara and the feeling is incomparable. If I had the means, I would upgrade my current Trek to this high-end offering. It features a vibration dampening OCLV frame paired with an Ultegra group for ultra-smooth shifting and braking. Overkill? Sure. Go big right?

Asus Eee PC 8G: I have been saying for years that a company should make a quick booting machine that just sits in my living room and can be used for quickly checking IMDB or Wikipedia. Asus must have listened and the initial reviews are overwhelmingly positive. The latest 8G model comes with a 7″ display, 8GB solid state memory and 3.5 hrs battery life. I think in the future a few of these machines will be in every household.

You have approximately eleven hours left to get in on the Standard Style 25 Hour Sale, which gets you 25% off everything in stock on their site right now — even items already on sale. That means Ksubi, Nudies and Earnest Sewn Denim, Scotch & Soda Hoodies and tonnes of Trovata gear. What are you waiting for? Use the code “25promo” at checkout to lighten your cart a quarter.

The guys at Trovota (that is, whoever is left there) are offering a 30% discount through what seems to be the end of February. An anonymous reader sent the code in claiming it was some type of discount “member” code– we think membership codes are foolish, so I thought why not share it with the world. Maybe a sign of things to come– and hopefully the ability to finally buy the good looking spring line on the internets. Either way, go knock yourself out and enjoy a savings of 30 cents on every dollar with the following code: FEBBRAIO

Some of my favorite content on the site comes from our fashion vaults (that probably has a lot to do with my love for fashion, but I really do think we have found some fabric gems). I frequently find myself sifting through the archives to see what we’ve written about so I can give references to interested friends. Then I thought: why not do the same for all of you? So here it is– my top fashion picks from our vault. Just in time for holiday shopping!

We just received word that our friends at Trovata have just opened their online store for business. Their timing couldn’t have been any better with the holiday shopping season still upon us. On the new website, you can find many hard-to-find Trovata pieces that you could never seem to hunt down on your own due to Trovata’s tight network of select retailers. There are some great basics up for grabs like the Lighthouse jacket and Culprit trousers, a pair of which I own personally and am a huge fan of. Kudos to the team at Trovata for an excellent job on the store. Fans of Trovata finally have a great online source that connects them full-circle with the creative themes/stories Trovata has been telling each season.

Hope you all are ready for another roundup! This time it’s winter-oriented gear from ‘the vault’– from coats, to snowboards, to high tech snowboard outerwear, we’ve got you covered. Well Threaded is like Monster.com for those looking for jobs with progressive fashion labels. If you want a career with one of these uber-hip companies, go to Well Threaded, set up an account, post your resume, and browse for jobs. You can get in touch with posting employers, or — if you are something really special — they may get a hold of you. I checked out the job postings this morning, and there were definitely some good ones on there–Director of Planning for Trovata, Regional Sales Manager for Hecklewood, Strategic Business Director for New Era Caps–just to name a few. Well Threaded also has a news feed that will keep you up to date on the happenings in the fashion world. While Well Threaded has a lot of room to grow, I really like the idea of a narrowed-down, niched, fashion-focused version of Monster.com and its progeny.

It took them long enough (snirk snirk chuckle chuckle), but our buddies at Trovata just dropped their new website. As usual, you won’t find an online catalog, or even a recital of locations of where you can buy their clothes, but what you will find is pretty damn hot. This season they have ’seasoned up’ their website with a graphic novella that will explain to you all the story behind their Fall 06 theme ‘A Mountain Spelled M-U-R-D-E-R.’ As we’ve explained before, the guys at Trovata set each season’s line to a story, complete with fictional characters and — as is the case this season — murder mystery set in the Alps. Read through the thing for a taste of John, Jeff, Sam, and Josiah’s collective imagination — witty quips and sarcasm included. I also want to give props to Danny Newman over at Impulse Digital for doing a great job on the site construction. Best Trovata site yet.

Everyone is familiar with the classic and timeless peacoat, but maybe you didn’t know that the name ‘peacoat’ comes from the Dutch or Frisian word ‘pij’ for a type of cloth; or that a ‘bridge coat’ is the longer, gold-button-and-shoulder-epaulette-clad older brother of the peacoat; or that in the U.K., peacoats are sometimes referred to as reefer jackets (no pun intended). At any rate, fall is here, and winter is soon to follow–and our boys over at Trovata have your back with their version of the classic pea coat. The Concord Peacoat starts with classic peacoat styling (i.e. wool), and finishes with classic Trovata detail–including big brown buttons, silky floral lining, a buttoned flap at the shoulders, two buttoned pockets in back, a face-and-neck warming sherlock collar, sufficient length so that you don’t look like an idiot, and — of course — the signature narrative patch sewn on the inside to clue you into Trovata’s mysterious fall 2006 theme: A Mountain Spelled M-U-R-D-E-R. At about $400, you will pay for this Trovata rendition of the peacoat, but it’s astute details will set you apart from the rest, and you will be able to wear it for the rest of your life (after all, the peacoat has been keeping sailors like you warm since 1717).

Trovata is a four-man fashion design collective based in Newport Beach, CA, and has risen from a dorm room design studio to high-fashion notoriety in a matter of four years. After literally cutting and sewing each sample by hand, they got their first big break with orders from Barney's, Fred Segal, and American Rag in 2002 and they haven't looked back since. With a laid-back mix of west-coast surfer and east-coast prepschool student, Trovata bases each of its collections on the lives and times of fictional characters—the Fall 2006 line employs a cool 1960's Alpine Swiss Streusel theme and the Spring 2007 line is a quirky take on a 1974 Cuban Diving Adventure. During New York's most recent fashion week, the Trovata four strayed away from a conventional runway show and instead opted to showcase their Spring 2007 men's and women's styles by throwing a party with a band, margaritas, and even a raffle drawing–unconventional? Maybe. But it was an ingenious way to brandish the whimsical features with which the Trovata label has become associated. Get Trovata clothing (from t-shirts to twill blazers) at your local boutique or online at Active Endeavors or Revolve Clothing.
