Over the past few years, Undoboy has been at the helm of a myriad of awesome projects. From designing various members of the mimobot family to collaborating on killer wall decals, this virtuoso of artistic and toymaking talent has more or less remained on the tip of our tongues. While the Malaysian born artist’s website has been displaying doses of design dexterity for quite some time now, one thing has been sorely lacking from his homepage … an online store chock full of goodies ripe for the purchasing. Thankfully, all of that has changed and Undoboy has seen the light by adding commerce to his content. His new online goodie shop features some of his most cherished creations, from the aforementioned bots and wall decals to his wonderful collection of Super Bastard boxes. If you’re looking to add some flash or just some fun to your personal space, we recommend checking it out.
Our pal Stinger, the Netherlands-based designer behind Zeptonn Labs, has finally dropped his latest book project, Black & White Freedrawings. So named thanks to the no restrictions given, no holds barred approach to the 160 drawings held inside, the book offers over 132 eco-friendly pages of collab-y art between Stinger and house favorites like Jesse Hora, Undoboy, and Shin Tanaka.
If you were wise enough to get your hands on a copy of Stingermania, you already know that Stinger’s books are more fun than a water slide in the summertime. However, unlike his other publications, there are only 450 copies of the first edition of Black & White Freedrawings, and the heavy beast is unbearably pricey to ship internationally (75 bucksies). In fact, unless you do happen to live in Europe, your chances of ever touching this book are slim to none– which is a crappy thought, especially for those of us who are about to give away one of the only copies of the book to ever touch American soil (that happens to come with some very nice giclee prints as well)… Sigh.
Yes, we’ve got one. For you, from Zeptonn. And you can have it if you are the first person to correctly answer the following question: what philosopher initially inspired Stinger to get his Master’s degree in Philosophy? Leave your answer in a comment to this post, yo.
A couple of great stills from an animation of the King and Queen meeting on the Mimobot we just released for the 2007 artist series. Along with the super-sexy USB drives in many different capacities, the über-bot is full of tons of awesome Undoboy/Collective content like icons, wallpapers, graphics, and songs you can’t get anywhere else. Yes, I’m shamelessly promoting the Spear Collective, and the bot our beloved Undoboy (to the rescue) created. They’re great, you should have one, or two, or maybe even three. But there aren’t many, this puppy is limited edition! Maybe we should give away a couple right now. First person to tell me which member of the Royal Family who has a birthday that coincides with the first day of the Summer Olympics in Beijing wins a set of 2GB Mimobots. Tricky, I know, but let the Mimbots guide you. Go, Go, Go!
OhGizmo! has leaked a rumor about our friends at Mimoco launching a series of Domo-kun related mimobots. Domo-kun inspired stuff has been almost impossible to come by in the USA, while it’s reaching the masses in Japan and many parts of Asia — on my last trip out to Tokyo I saw Domo-kun figures, dolls, keychains, posters absolutely everywhere. My prediction of Domo-kun’s rise to success, fame and fortune in the United States is finally coming to fruition; only a few halloweens ago I dressed up as the strange, fuzzy, monster-like creature. God, I can’t wait to store my secret files on these incredible USB drives!
Check out this quick and super-fun video of our friend Undoboy installing his Blik Dreamland wall graphic. He shot the whole thing over 2 hours and then sped it up into hyper speed for our 1 minute viewing pleasure. I’m totally loving the rainbow poop graphics, and now think I might have to do the walls in the bathroom of our new office with them. Too funny. Head on over to Blik to grab your own. Undoboy does it again!
Our pals at mimoco are now loading an exclusive zine onto their newly dispatched blood-thirsty monsters/flash drives. Core Series 2 mimobots ordered after today will arrive pre-loaded with mimozine Issue 1, featuring music by Art Brut, comedy by Poykpac, mimobot animation, games, screensavers, and an uncommon interview with toy bootlegger Sucklord. The mimozine comes complete with a “not suitable for children” clause — which normally indicates a product of worth — so if you’ve been putting off your purchase of, say, undoboy’sKing and Queen, now is definitely, absolutely, entirely the right time to get it done.
A while back, Mimoco approached the Spear Collective with the idea of doing an artist series Mimobot. We hollered at our 26 artists to submit design proposals, and many of them came through with some damn impressive bot mockups. In the end, Mimoco chose to produce the work of none other than Undoboy for part 2 of their 2007 Artist Series. I’m sure you’ll agree that the ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ you see here are the most regal Mimobots to ever infiltrate USB drives. Undoboy also did a bang up job with loading these things with a ton of exclusive content — wallpapers, icons, avatars, animations, and screensavers — even more of a reason to grab one. Look for these little ballers to hit Mimobot retailers in the very-near future. But remember, they’re limited edition — only 2,000 of each are being produced, and their sure to fly off shelves like greased lightning.
It’s all too overwhelming. Carmel posted about blik and Threadless yesterday, and we already have more to tell you about these re-stickably amazing decals. And what news! Today we actually have a reason to celebrate blik other than just liking what they do — it’s their fifth anniversary, and they’re celebrating by throwing a party in Venice, California. The main event of the party, which you’re invited to, is a live art installation from Undoboy.
Now, undoubtedly blik’s tacky (no, not that kind of tacky) designs are one of our favorite things in the world, but of all of the blik decals that we love, we might just love Undoboy’s the bestest. The tireless Spear Collective member has done quite a variety of work for blik — some of his decals look like they come from the Candyland, while others look like rhinoceros poop. Rainbow-colored rhinoceros poop. The important thing is that all of his decals are colorful and innovative, so his performance today in Venice isn’t something you’ll want to miss.
By the way, the venue for blik’s party? Appropriately enough for a sticker company, it’s being held at Epoxy Box. Good sticking to you all.
blik, the kids who bring color to the walls of renters and hope to decor commitment-phobes worldwide have teamed up with Spear Collective member Undoboy to add some super fun new wall decals to their already extensive collection. Available in late May/early June, the collaboration features four new designs, allowing you to create your own candy-colored Dreamland, or cover your bathroom walls in (ahem) Rainbow Poops. Fortunately for you, it’s as modifiable, temporary, or permanent as you want it to be. I wonder how well a Scratch-n-Sniff version of these would sell…then again, I get a kick out of my houseguests thinking I’m weird quirky like that.
We have to admit we’re going to miss our friend Chean Wei Law’s old portfolio site– but the new one is just as impressive. If you don’t remember Undoboy, he created those super-fun Super-bastard box figures. His new identity is solid and interface is simple and sexy– it helps further deliver his simple message about life: Design Brings Happiness. The new site of the NY based designer shows off some of his awesome work for folks like Mini Cooper, Coke Zero and Volkswagen. Congrats on the new site, Undoboy!

It’s simple, fun, and inexpensive gift time. Our pal Undoboy has parlayed his abundant design talent into these Super-Bastard art characters. There are 16 different toys and 64 different characters, from cowboys, to Mr. T, to Conan the Barbarian. You can buy these Super-Bastard toys online at Karmaloopor in person at one of the retailers listed on the website. But hurry, because Undoboy only manufactured 1000 units of each character. They cost $6 for a single Super-Bastard or you can get the entire set for $95. The holiday season is upon us, and I’m definitely going to stuff some stockings with Super-Bastards.
