On the heels of their sell out Zero Issue, FLY just launched its next limited edition issue– Words Remembered. The easiest way to conceptualize this digital media experience is by thinking of it as a moving image fashion magazine–it includes 14 fashion films, 7 interviews and documentaries, and 10 music videos. And talk about an A-list of contributors, with people like Karl Lagerfeld, John Malkovich, Zac Posen, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi. The DVD showcases come of the best established and emerging photographers, film makers, fashion designers, artists, and musicians, and is a media experience unlike any other– ‘pure indulgence.’ You can find a list of stores that are carrying Words Remembered on FLY’s website.

It’s snowing here– and that means it’s time to clean out the fireplace and get the JavaLogs ready. Wintertime for me, for whatever reason, also means drinking plenty of tea and eating lots of toast. We’d be very happy if this brushed aluminum Porsche designed two-slice toaster ended up in our kitchens this winter. It not only looks great, it has a memory system that remembers the last setting you used to toast your bread. Crispy brown please. Via Notcot

San Francisco is going to be off the hook next week– starting on October 30th, and ending on November 4th, the Icer Air is coming back– bigger than ever. This year it’s at AT&T Park, and will be hosted by Johnny ‘Big Air’ Moseley, Todd ‘TR’ Richards, and Tony ‘The Birdman’ Hawk. Events will include big air contests for both skiers and snowboarders, skate and bmx demos, a fashion show, and plenty of parties. Saturday, November 4th is the big day of the event, that’s when you can see skiers and snowboarders huck their meat in the most artificial of conditions, as well as see crowd pleasers like Ladytron and Jurassic 5 perform. The best part of the Icer Air this year is that it’s sponsored by (among many others) Sparks– as if action sports enthusiasts didn’t have enough energy already. You’ve gotta love energy drink/malt liquor combos (I recommend Sparks Plus for a ‘one step below crack’ experience).

I don’t have much to say about these, but they stopped me dead in my tracks. Very Halloween! Check out SLW for more design, good graphics but unfortunately little info. Via Core77

We like shoes. You must too, or else you would be getting really sick of all the posts we write about sneakers on here. In the past year, the amount of online shoe vendors has dramatically increased–in fact, the business is currently seen as one of the most promising e-buiness sectors in existence. I learned this last week when I read that Gap is getting into the online shoe biz, to build on the $600 million in sales it did last year on its e-commerce platform. It can be frustrating as a consumer, searching hundreds of sites for the right pair at the right price. But that has all changed with Sneaker-Websites.com–a sneaker-only search engine — powered by Google — that will take you right where you need to go to find your kicks. I love technology.

Utilitarian function meets sleek and simple fashion with Flake’s new line of laptop bags. There are a lot of laptop bags out there, but few combine all the essential elements like these Flake bags do. The sling is made from a single, continuous piece of fabric; the side is made from a layering of new wool (nice), recycled PET fabric, plastic sheet, and high density foam–the result is a stylish, light, thin, and protective package for your most prized possession (maybe I am just speaking for Josh and I, but I doubt it). Flake bags come in both tote and messenger styles, and offer different sizes depending on the size of your laptop. Flake bags originate in Singapore, so they may be difficult to get a hold of in stores–but you can email them from their website and ask them to send you one.
