Although details are still sparse, rumor has it that tonight GM’s Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn will join Jay Leno to unveil their extremely confidential car design collaboration. They’re calling it a ’super car’ that all started as a sketch on a bar napkin (shown here). It’s clearly futuristic and early whispers indicate it’s eco-friendly– and that makes us very happy to hear. Stay tuned for more info and pictures of the launch. We’re planning on a few high-five sessions with Leno and GM executives afterwards– that is, if we like what we see.

We’ve arrived in Las Vegas– and although we’re not Wayne Newton wannabes, Celine Dion die-hards, or professional poker players (although Josh thinks he is) — our room at the Wynn is top notch. We just ordered some extra robes and slippers, cracked open the mini bar, and Josh is still gawking at the in-room flat screen and phone system, both of which were prominently displaying his name upon arrival. GM hasn’t been too clear about what we were brought here to see (hopefully not a gagged and blindfolded trip out to the desert), but so far they have been gracious hosts– and we do understand that later tonight (at midnight P.S.T.) we will be witnessing the unveiling of GM’s newest and brightest automobile addition. Immediately after the unveiling, we will be broadcasting the news, as well as getting some up-close-and-personal interviews with the designers and marketers behind the GM brand.

We’re headed out in a couple of hours to Las Vegas, courtesy of our new friends at General Motors. We’ll be checking out the 2006 SEMA show, the premier show for automotive specialties. Stay tuned all day for live photos and posts from the convention center floor as we report on anything and everything we find interesting. We’ll also (hopefully) get some up-close-and-personal time with a few designers and marketing folk at GM to ask a couple questions about the brand, the decisions they’re making and the future of the automotive industry from their perspective. Later tonight we’ll be covering a very special event at 11:59pm (PST), although we don’t expect you to stay up in sweaty-anticipation, keep your eyes peeled for special announcements. Viva Las Vegas!

Perhaps fitting for Halloween, Burton has updated their Series 13 website for the impending winter season. The leaders in cold weather extreme sports equipment, Burton has raised the bar with Series 13. The interactive site features a showcase of 13 different board types, depending on your size and riding style. New to the series is the ability to create a custom board with your own artwork image on it. This level of personalization is sure to be popular with athletes who want to be original on the vast white landscape. Laid out in a very intuitive fashion, like the Nike iD website, Series 13 offers everyone from the X-Games gold medalist to the weekend warrior a chance to own something unique. It’ll cost you though, with prices starting at $800. Via 7DV

Sick of bare walls but can’t bring yourself to put up a poster of Pink Floyd or Jerry Garcia? We are too. The Poster List is a very simple site that sells independantly produced posters that are designed and printed in-house. Most of the graphics are a little more up-to-date when it comes to our generation’s icons: Jon Stewart, Agassi, Angelina (icon, I don’t know, but I still like her poster). They’re also very affordable at around $8.00 a pop. Check them out.

We covered Brooklyn based Alexander Reh’s Fully Loaded chair back in February, a chair made with more than 450 .12 gauge shotgun shells. He checked in with us with a little insight into his new collection. He says he is down the path of self-construction in a developing series called “Time to D-I-Y.” One of the first two installments is called the Milky Way Chandelier, shown here. 14 milk gallon containers attached to a hula hoop and wired with 5 watt holiday lights– awesome. We’re big fans of this kind of DIY work, keep it up!
