Fuct, one of the longest-running streetwear labels around, now has an online shop open for business. Unafraid to be brassy or polemical, the brand has lasted because of the O.G. ways of creator Eric Brunetti, whose less than flattering opinions about colleagues Nigo and Shepard Fairey are the juicy stuff of streetwear blogs and magazines. But beef or no beef, fans of Fuct are chomping at the bit for more of its graf-inspired graphics. Check in often for exclusive Premium releases at the store, or just pick up a hoodie or two. The latest item to hit the shop is an LA-represent pullover that’s so hot, it’s on fire.

Twice before, we told you about Wants for Sale, a site began by artist (and in our estimation, conceptual genius) Justin Gignac and his girlfriend, Christine. Aimed at providing the couple a chance to acquire objects of their material fancy through the sale of artistic renderings of said wants at the exact cost of said item, Justin and Christine were able to afford everything ranging from a slice of pizza to an iPhone. Though Wants for Sale may have been a clever scheme to gain goods and services it wasn’t all about greed and guitar hero. Wants for Sale also had its soft side with paintings aimed at donating money to help kids in both New Orleans and Africa.

It’s this soft side that drives the couple’s latest venture, aptly named, Needs for Sale. The idea is basically the same as their other site, only the desire to make the world a better place is of paramount importance this time — winning out over the acquisition of video game systems. All of the paintings Justin and Christine sell go to help various causes; for instance, Habitat for Humanity says that a $100 donation buys a kitchen sink, so the site has a painting of a kitchen sink on sale for $100. Ultimately, the couple hopes to donate between $5,000 and $10,000 to various charitable organizations to do their part this Holiday season. Now it’s time to do yours and check out Needs for Sale.

Update: for the moment, the pieces are sold out — but keep your eyes out for new pieces being added really soon.

Mmm, smells like Canada. I mean — new vinyl — it smells like new vinyl. Not that I’m sure about Bax Bears even being vinyl (the Thee looks primarily plastic-y, I think), only that the two, newish designer toys are collectible figurines straight out of the arms of The Great White North. Created by OSO Design House owner and designer Michael Zhu, Bax Bear (a bear) and Thee (a very Canadian-looking leaf) have been getting some sizable press coverage from Hong Kong’s Milk Magazine, meaning that it’s only a matter of time before the toys sail back across the ocean to line our own monstered shelves. Artists like Winson Ma of Brothersfree, Tim Tsui, TOUMART, Camilla d’Errico, Alice Chen, and Jason Pultz contributed to Bax Bear Series 1, making the first run collectible enough to make you one wish you got some while you had the chance (hint, hint).

I’m supposed to be telling you about denim; denim contrived in D.C., made in L.A., and available for shipping anywhere your doorstep may reside. However, the photography on DURKL’s site was too, too incredible to focus only on their new cut-and-sew pantalones (available in both classic and slim fit cuts), so I’ll give you a brief rundown, then move on to what I really want to say. Brief rundown goes as follows: If the tight, acid-washed denim that you share with your girlfriend lost its charm when you and your nine-year old cousin showed up wearing the exact same outfit this Thanksgiving, this is where you go next. It comes in purple, cyan, yellow, black, and white, and a better pair hasn’t existed since whatever everyone rocked in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Some free advice from me: You’ll want to wear your pants — any pants — with the Pump (in white) tee or the Crooked (in orange, if you can pull it off) tee. Note to boys: some of the guys on that site are modeling the shirts in sizes too big for their bodies. Let’s not take any cues from that — I had a boyfriend like that once, and it sucked. Draw inspiration from the well styled pics of the Summer ‘07 line instead, and buy some of it if you can. And here’s what I really want to say: Your girlfriend wants these. Trust me.

Sao Paulo’s the shiz-nit when it comes to the swarm of talented graffiti artists living and producing there, and along with that scene comes a teeming skate world that keeps gaining ground. The other day while stopping to eat at one of my favorite vegan per-kilo places, I passed by reputable import skate shop Maze and saw it has recently expanded its formerly tiny location with a second part of its store called Maze Limited. The new addition stocks art toys and rare kicks from Nike, Vans and the brands we’re accustomed to in the US, plus they’ve also scored a Brazilian exclusive to Stussy and LRG products. On the walls are works by local artists, ready to come back home on the plane with you. If you’re in town, check out the shop at 2077 Rua Augusta, Store 17.

Mark Story’s photographs are chilling at first glance; his subjects look almost like mummies or something from a museum. In fact, most are people — still alive — who have lived during three different centuries. Mark started his photographic journey with an interest in people who appeared older than they really are: people who were “worn beyond their years”. This evolved into an interest in centenarians.

“The experience of talking with a 110 year-old man whose father stood next to Abraham Lincoln during the Gettysburg Address does not easily lend itself to words. A photograph seemed appropriate.” Have a look at the rest of the photos and stories about Mark’s subjects. They’ll most definitely make an impression.
