And you thought the most interesting thing about vintage porn was the music (or possibly the glaring lack of pubic grooming). Well, think again; thanks to South African artist Brandt Botes’ (aka Von Brandis) latest Flickr set, Obscene Interiors, we can now clearly see how vintage porn really excelled in "set design". By removing the actual pornstars from old skool shots he sourced on the internet, we can now check out, unhindered, the no-holds-barred shag carpeted key party glory of it all. Plus the white silhouettes, positions discernible from the outlines but the details and money shots blurred away, are tantalizing little brainteasers. Are they? Aren't they? I'm pretty sure they are, but you can't see it... so who knows?

With nearly 246 Million users worldwide, Skype, is fast becoming one of the cheapest and most convenient ways of communicating with contacts all over the world. The only problem is that to use it you have to be connected to your computer. We know being tethered to your desktop isn't the most appealing of concessions for cheaper communications, but thanks to Belkin’s new Desktop Internet Phone for Skype, you can get away from your computer and still manage to chat up your friends in faraway lands. The phone plugs into a wired or wireless router or a live Ethernet port which enables you to immediately start making calls, and also stores over 500 sets of Skype and SkypeOut contacts so you don't have to rely on your own powers of recall. If that doesn't make your calling more convenient, then perhaps you should invent something that does.

Ever since I finally saw Hurtmold in their Sao Paulo hometown after countless recommendations from friends, I can’t get their new eponymous album (on a great indie label called Submarine) off my daily listening playlist. This seasoned band’s got their math rock on lock with fine grooves punctuated by glistening shots of xylophone, topped off with mounting layers of clarinet and keyboard like on a cake. The show I checked out was packed with elated fans standing in place, shaking their heads to the rhythm — and lots of it, really, because Hurtmold make percussion their best friend. It takes six members to create their wall of sound. Of these six, Mauricio Takara is the biggest name among them, a super-productive guy who also has his own solo project going on. As Hurtmold, though, the band have half a dozen good, solid albums out already and play live often. Rock out to them here.
