You’re getting a sneak preview at just a small slice of part deux of Nike Sportswear’s winter collection, the first of which they launched on the opening day of the Olympics in August. It continues to feature the eight iconic Nike shoes (Cortez, Air Max, Dunk) and apparel (Windrunner, AW77 Hoody) but in new, snazzy colorways and prints like camouflage and classic plaid. The line debuts Nov. 6 everywhere, and no doubt you’ll be having a few items to put on your Christmas list. To see the entire line, stay tuned to the brand’s site for more.

Footwear designer Seishi Tanka hand draws every single sneaker silhouette of the TST line– and hand finishes each of them after production. The results are an organic, one of a kind sneakers with suede, leathers, canvas and other high quality “sneaker ingredients” in the mix. Our friends at Oki-ni just dropped a couple pieces from the new line including those shown above. Im partial to the TST Split Toe Sneaker show on the far left. TST Footwear is available at Okn-ni but I doubt they’ll last.

The candidacy of Barack Obama is inspiring politically conscious artists to create at a never before seen breakneck pace. The latest artist to nod in the direction of everyone’s favorite hopemonger is Spear favorite Dan Funderburgh. Funderburgh’s most recent letter press, the red, white, and blue hued “Census“, may not directly reference the Illinois Senator, but Funderburgh hopes that it can aid his preferred candidate. All the proceeds from this limited run of 75 signed and numbered prints go directly to the Obama campaign. The poster is currently available at the I Am Still Alive Store.

We normally leave covering iPhone apps, or the iPhone for that matter, to our friends at Gizmodo. But they’ve pointed out something worth noting here. The application Bloom is simple colors and sounds that are activated by, you guessed it, touch. The notable thing is that it was programed by Brian Eno (who created the Windows 95 start up sound, among some other work) and Peter Chilvers. So even if you don’t have a musical bone in your body the “composition” you create will still sound peaceful and euphoric. The app is $3.99 in the iTunes application store.

My friends in Japan think I’m nuts– each time I’m in Tokyo (or even in London), I dive head first into Muji and stock up on everything. With 341 stores in Japan alone, it’s sort of like a 7-Eleven to them (although they have that in strength around Japan as well). Pens, papers, pads, folders, and even sometimes clothes if i need them. Muji is usually the perfect place to go and grab an incredibly inexpensive T-shirt when everything else is dirty, or if you just need a good looking bag, umbrella, or, well, pretty much anything else in the world without breaking the bank or the eyes (read: cheap and good looking).

And, it’s coming to JFK. A small victory for Muji lovers around the world, on October 22nd the doors will open to the new MUJIto GO store at the new JetBlue Terminal 5. Following Muji in Times Square and Soho, the JFK outlet is Muji’s third store in the states– and I would have to guess they’re going to be pretty aggressive here soon.

The store is focused on travel and mobile accessories, and if you’re as excited as I am you can download the PDF of the MUJI to GO Catalog here– get ready!

I went to sleep last night with Lisa Solberg’s paintings as the last thing I saw on my laptop, and I think some of her works snuck into my dreams. It isn’t hard to imagine. Her subject matter ranges from cowboys and Indians to tigers (or tiger masks) to topless girls vomiting rainbows — and of course there is the Mexican wrestler party. Did I mention that some of the works require 3-D glasses? As if you didn’t need another reason to understand just how her fun and strange her works can be. She has a new collection going up at Kinsey/DesForges in L.A. Opening reception is this Saturday, October 11th at 6 p.m. The show runs through November, but if you can’t make it to Los Angeles, have a look at the paintings up on her website (you will have to provide your own 3-D glasses).

I ran into a DJ here in Sao Paulo yesterday named Hisato who handed me a new EP from his rock-electro outfit, Hello, Kate!!, called Girls. Even before listening to the songs, I was struck by the incredible hand-done illustration in the liner notes (only an itsy-bitsy part of the actually long, horizontal painting is shown above). It was done by a local artist named Catarina Gushiken, who has her hands deep in illustration and has a direct link to fashion through six years of work as a designer for Brazil’s super-famous Cavalera brand. Richly detailed and painstakingly done in watercolor and ink, each picture shows a clear influence from Japan and is organic in thought and execution. I’ve been complaining that I can’t even draw chicken scratch and it turns out she gives private drawing classes — a great service that I’d love to see more artists offer out of the kindness of their hearts.
