Note to our London readers who are seeing the rise of Brazilian art on display at a gallery near them: Sao Paulo contemporary artist and street art hero Herbert Baglione will be presenting a fresh series of provocative and dark works entitled Two Broken Knees at Lazarides gallery’s Greek Street location beginning Nov. 21. Haunting figures in a scene of color take on urban influences, which Baglione carries out with destructed typography treatments and sharp shapes. These works focus on his view of death, individualism and chaos — subjects undoubtedly close to all of us and always inspiring ones. What a way to close out the world’s tumultuous year. The exhibit runs till Dec. 20.

Plane crashes aren’t often uplifting occurrences — unless Tom Hanks and a volleyball are involved — but minus all of the carnage, there is a certain beauty that comes through in the mangled chaos of wreckage. Scott Teplin’s Flight 704 shirt design manages to cut through the discord of aviation-related accidents to find an aesthetic happy place where artistry lives amongst the twisted scraps of metal and seat upholstery on an asphalt colored American Apparel tee. And if you have trouble reconciling something as horrible as an airliner colliding with the ground with personal style, just know that purchasing this shirt at designgive allows you to donate a portion of the proceeds to a charity of your choosing.

We’re not sure if the creative minds at Hard Graft were inspired by Transformers when they came up with the design for their latest tote, but there’s definitely more to it than meets the eye. The 2Unfold is more than just a simple laptop bag crafted from the finest Italian leather and cotton canvas. The versatile carry-all can be maneuvered into eight possible modes. With a few simple twists and flips you can go from sporting a rucksack to a shoulder bag, or you can take it from business to pleasure by switching your urban briefcase into a leather clutch. While the possibilities aren’t endless, we think it could take your friends a good amount of time to realize that all of those sweet new cases they’ve seen strapped to your person are one in the same.

The auto industry may be suffering, but quality product design isn’t. A line of bowls and coasters influenced by classic cars has been created by New York-based Ramnarace. Recycled aluminum is put to good use by someone who knows a thing or two about the metal. Designer Sid Ramnarace worked on projects for Ford, Aston Martin, and Lincoln before turning a few of his favorite forms into products for the home. The combination of sleek lines and dramatic design used in the Mika and Stirling bowls is eye-catching — not that we’d expect anything less from someone who had a hand in developing the look of the Thunderbird.

We just love the vintage-style sexploitation poster that is the splash image for Destroy. But we love the Portland-based apparel line’s new fall/winter collection more. With tees that feature slogans like “Destroy Censorship” and “Destroy Racism” in a Teenage Millionare style, you can look smart while making a statement. Except we’re not so sure about their “Anyone But Boston” shirt. Really, guys? It had been 86 years after all.
