Cheer up. According our watch, it’s still summer for another month (it’s a really big watch). That means you’re going to need some fashionable shades for the late season sun. How about a pair of Alex & Chloe sunglasses? We’ll assume you said yes.

The Prize: A set of Alex & Chloe sunglasses, one Santa Cruz style and one Cape Town (est. retail value, $190 each)

This Week’s Rules: We know our readers are savvy world travelers. For this Big Ticket Tuesday, we’re asking you to submit one pic of yourself wearing sunglasses in an exotic location. It can be a link on Flickr, Shutterfly, Picasa, et al., or you can send it directly to feedback [AT] joshspear.com. Also, provide a quick caption of where you are (we’re not frickin’ Carmen Sandiego over here). The reader with the farthest traveled specs will get two new pairs to continue the trek.

This is me at Trade & Aid Festival at Hammershus on Bornholm which is also known as “the sunshine island”.. Doesn’t get any more exotic than that..

Or I could upload the pic of me visiting the moon, but I wasn’t really wearing sunglasses.. It was more like a shield..

People with photos of themselves in sunglasses in exotic locations can probably afford to buy their own expensive sunglasses, Josh!

Alright, its not exotic, but it was in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, taken by my 10 year old daughter. We’re at 2750 feet, which might not seem high to you, but considering we live in relatively flat STL, we might have well been climbing Everest. Walking a 4, 7 and 10 year old up the side of a mountain wasn’t easy, or quiet.

we travelled all the way to the 1980’s…

This is a photo of my Mother, younger sister and I in Hampi, the former capitol of the Vijayanagara empire, now a bunch of ruins and a small village. Hampi is located in Southern India in the state of Karnataka.

This is us (perry + lauran) on little corn island 40 miles of the Caribbean coast of Nicargua, just 2 weeks ago.

little corn is remote as hell — no cars, only 700 people live there, no way to get cash if you run out of it (which we did), and only way off is by speedboat twice a day. oh, and cocaine trafficers from Columbia use it as a place to ditch their boats and hide in the jungle when they are being chased by DEA helicopters.

As far flung as Victoria, British Columbia, which is as far as I can afford right now. But the style people, the style…

I traveled to Florence a few years ago in cheap ugly red sunglasses and Sid Vicious t-shirt:

and traveled all the way to this morning to San Francisco in killer vintage French frames and a kicky striped number:

That, my friends, was a long journey.

This is a photo of my friend Moi (right) and I on Rapa Nui (aka Easter Islands). Moi is of Rapa Nui descent and is an ambassador, incredible guide, and all around super cool guy. he explained to us the savage beauty and history of the island, one of the most remote and breathtaking places in the world. if you look in my photoset you’ll see us doing our best rendition of tribal life on Rapa Nui…. enjoy…and go visit Rapa Nui!
