CNN.com quietly launched a new feature today which allows readers to order T-shirts of their favorite headlines as they happen. And yes, they have some funny (and terrible) headlines to choose from. To get there, look for the tiny little T-shirt icon next to the headlines on the front page. The great and inherently viral part about it is the shirts are limited edition, and only available during a certain “headline” period of time. Shirts are $15 a pop which is totally fair, and the entire service is powered by Spreadshirt.

I don’t know if I like this JS post or what CNN is doing. Maybe I am looking at this incorrectly, but it seems that CNN needs to regain credibility in a lot of young, intelligent people’s mind and this isn’t the way to do it. Making fun of yourself is cool and oh so hip right now but isn’t CNN supposed to be a legitimate news source? No really, I think they are supposed to be an objective provider of important information. That may sound way too naive and ideological but “Waste food dished up to hungry diners?” Yeah great. That is one the top headlines that I can now wear. Fantastic. Oh, oil just hit $118.00 a barrel, a friend of mine who has a phd in Chemistry can’t get a job in the Bay Area, and Iraq is a frigging mess, etc., etc., etc. Seriously WTF JS? Also, Spreadshirt sucks.

Yes your anonymous sarcasm is justified, Captain Obvious always sounds annoying, but these types of things bother the hell out of me. Sorry, beer, skateboarding, and no worries just isn’t working for me anymore. My taxes just helped with a yacht payment owned by a top lending manager whose equally bailed out financial adviser is of the opinion that the CNN t-shirts are a forward thinking marketing strategy. I am over the little guy complaining about always getting effed over but then thinking it’s okay to let things like major news outlets profit off of everything except reporting actual news go without having some sort of opinion about it. Again - obvious?, yep. Angry?, sure. This probably isn’t the forum? you’re right.
