I learned my lesson a long time ago about writing music reviews. There’s a million journalists — even commenters — on the planet who do it better than me, so I’m going to leave it to them to tell you how inspired Radiohead’s In Rainbows is. I won’t tell you how this album’s version of “Nude” is miles better than the multiple iterations before it, or share my theory on it being their best work since, say, Kid A. I will, however, tell you that you must, must, must go and spend however much you *think* it’s worth, listen to it, then realize you probably should have spent more money on it than you did. We’re all pretty stoked that it turned out to be for real, contrary to a certain other team member’s prediction.

(Update: looks like the In Rainbows site is busted right now. Keep checking back — you won’t be sorry.)

It’s definitely a Radiohead album that spans more territory than previous releases — and can’t fall into the normal “we threw the one out of place song up front” format — though for a good :41 seconds I thought this was a misplaced double disc to thom’s solo album.

It swings from 90’s rock to lounging grooves with ease — and as always, you’re tempted to run your hands on the inside of thom’s brain to understand what the geopolitical climate contributed.

I like it. But it’s going to take a few more spins.. correct that. repeats.

Yeah on the first listen I am far from blown away, its solid but its nothing special at least for me at this point. Some things need growing time though so who knows.

Gosh, I think this band might be here to stay!

Website is not busted, you just have to make sure that you type in http://www. before inrainbows.com to be connected.

The album is one that definitely takes a few listens to appreciate fully, but then I became aware of the wonderful layers of percussion that seem to be center stage in this recording.
