The phone is definitly “retro” in appearance. Today’s style if the new cell phones are anything to judge by are brushed silver with neon lights - tiny like a credit card. This thing is big and clunky - like those old phones where you had to crank the handle round to get some attention from a nosy operator at a local swichboard.

Big and clunky is the point. “Today’s style” is tomorrow nostalgia and maybe one day references to brushed silver with neon lights will seem appealing like this phone. I like it that this phone is sculputural and references the past without reproducing it (no Pottery Barn here). I like the idea of picking up a phone with some heft, but a slim middle to put your hand around. I wonder if they have that funny old plastic smell that the old rotary dial phones had?
