We just got word from Star Electric Eighty Eight that the X-Rated Romps collection of tees with hand-drawn prints by Frenchie Datrumpf just dropped on their site. As usual, they look nothing short of excellent. The story goes that Datrumpf used to punch in at his job at a jail (we’re dying to know more, but that’s all they’ll give) in France, and considering the images are inspired from actual newspaper photos, I imagine there must have been lots of reading time while on the clock. SEEE’s also got cotton rags with the same prints that look almost too good to use.

The winner of Typophile’s 2008 T-shirt Battle hails from from Ahmedabad, India. The font aficionado put together an appealing design entitled “Light, Regular, Bold, Bold Italic”, which consists of a sequence of sans-serif letter I’s in each stroke weight. As a slick, understated, asymmetrical design rather than an explicit reference to typography, “Light, Regular, Bold, Bold Italic” stands apart from previous battle winners with an extra touch of class. Pick it up soon, this one’s only available until August 15th.

Bay Area designer, and poster artist for the indy stars, Jason Munn brings his clever, literal style to the world of T-shirts. In a limited set of tees, hoodies, and posters for Insound entitled the Insound 20, Munn blesses 20 bands with his simple storybook cover technique. The line-up includes Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, Beirut, She & Him, The National and more. Each is a signature piece that is a graphic interpretation of the band’s name and the feel of their music, yielding sweet looking designs that you might only “get” with a second look. My personal favorite is the one for The New Pornographers.

When someone like you is in need of a sweet new T-shirt design you can always count on People Like Us. No, not us. You know JS.com is always good for it, but we’re referring to our buddy Jeremy Somers. His label has recently released three hot new designs for the summer swelter (although technically it’s winter where he lives). Their fresh looks come courtesy a trio of talented artists including Somers (Beautiful Squid), Swiss artist At-elier (Lovecraft), and Paris’s Théo Gènnitsakis (God’s Explosion).

Momimomi has taken on an “everything must go” mentality as they kick off their big Summer sale. With a new site launch slated for the fall, prices have been slashed so that you can get your claws on some quality tees for low, low prices (and so they can stock their virtual shelves with fresh new items). Every single shirt will be available for less than $30. So if you’re got the need … the need for tees, there’s never been a better (or cheaper) time to get to shoppin’.

Let’s explore a hypothetical: Say you’re at a trade show … like possibly MAGIC in Las Vegas this August. You’re there on the floor of the convention center, eating some fried dough, displaying your laminate with the holographic entitlement sticker, picking up some schwag, when all of a sudden the sales pitch robots at the table gasp in horror. Yes, you’re wearing this shirt. JB Classics Lab was inspired by that same scenario and came out with this colorful quip of a T-shirt for their new “The Dead List” series. The next time somebody in a polo and chinos starts talking to you about shifting your global distribution platform, just tap the front of the shirt and stare straight ahead as you wait in line for Lou Ferrigno to sign your bicep.

The thought of indulging in Cookies-n-Cream is always a sweet proposition, but after peeping a peak at the hot new line of tees by the company adorned with our favorite ice cream flavor’s moniker, it’s an even tastier suggestion. The New York-based lifestyle brand Cookies-n-Cream is the product of two creative minds, Scrills and P., who, inspired by their love of ice cream and baked goods, have put together some delicious designs ready to be eaten up by an eager public. While their designs are currently only available at the Young Designers market on Mulberry Street in New York’s Nolita Section, you should soon be able to pick up their precious wares at their website, BakedinNY.com. Mmmm mmmm good.

Warsaw, Poland may be known for the infamous ghettos of World War II, but these days it’s garnering plenty of positive attention as a European center of style. As home to one of the several European incarnations of the Comme Des Garcones Guerrilla Stores it would be an understatement to say modern street style has flourished within the confines of the city. The proprietor of CDG Guerrilla shop hasn’t stopped spreading the style love, as his second shop, Warszawska Nike is currently celebrating it’s first anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the store is featuring sweet limited edition shirts (40 each) designed by the likes of Alex Purdy, Eboy, and Ill studio, amongst others. If you find yourself in Warsaw (not likely, but still…) in the coming weeks, we recommend checking it out. Or head to their website — provided you or a friend can read Polish. Or you can just contact Serek directly. Shirt pics after the jump…

You want designs? Bored of Neighborhoodies? Ok, then we’re gonna give you designs. Or, more accurately Arts and Crap is. In the ‘printshop’ section of their site, you can choose from thousands of designs (more to come soon, though we’re not exactly sure why) to smack onto an American Apparel tee. For an extra $10, you can add-on your own design, ink, or combine of the logos. The possibilities are endless! But for this weekend, we suggest ordering the one that reads “BBQ.”

Threadless is our kind of store (for more proof, see here). Their designs are driven by the creative minds of both artists and their devout consumers. These are the kind of T-shirts that when we wear them, we always get the obligatory “OMG! Where did you get that?!” so now we just carry their business cards (we don’t speak to strangers).
And, starting July 11th, Threadless plans to really bring art to the forefront by holding “Go with the Flow,” an exhibition at their Chicago store/gallery, featuring the urban-inspired art of graphic designer/illustrator J. Byrnes. In the meantime, you can check out more of his gritty designs at adapt-studio.com

“I am not a number! I am a free man!” Or, at least that’s what The Prisoner wanted you to believe. We Are Numbers is a worldwide community experiment / tracking system / T-shirt pitch that wants you to be an individual — in a completely hive-mentality sort of way. The mysterious Number One (aka Dutch designer Twan Verdonck) was tired of the disposable nature of couture fashion — what with its “one minute you’re in, the next you’re out” Heidi Klumisms — so, he decided to make just one style; a handmade T-shirt with your own unique number. Dozens of new members have already posted their YouTube videos, and the first 1000 customers will appear in a book. We just hope the guy who gets 69 isn’t a complete a-hole.

If the terms “progressive” and “eco-friendly” were in third grade, they’d walk around holding hands and spend their entire recess period together talking about alternative fuel sources. Even though they’re not school aged-children they still go hand-in-hand, as they relate perfectly to Organic Stereo, the new apparel brand from Brighton-based designer Marie Rendina. After spending the last 12 years honing her craft across the English Channel, freelancing for the likes of Mambo, Fat Face, and Criminal, Rendina struck out on her own to create clothing that reflected the quirky yet relaxed lifestyle of her adoptive British backdrop that was also environmentally conscious. Her collection utilizes components such as chemical free dyes, organic cotton and buttons made of recycled paper, to assemble attire that maintains an amicable relationship with mother nature. Organic Stereo also deserves extra ethics points for belonging to 1% for The Planet, an organization that donates a percent of their gross revenue before tax to charitable causes around the world.

Today marks the summer solstice, and if for some reason you’ve been holding out for the official start of the warm season to shed those long sleeves, you’re probably going to need a few new T-shirts to replace the undershirts you sweat through while trying to beat the heat. Luckily for you the folks behind the imaginative apparel at Hecklewood have a new line that is destined to show off your sweet sense of style rather than draw attention to your overactive sweat glands. The Portland-based brand’s latest line Cult Status consists of a bevy of boss looks that, when plastered to the billboard you like to call your torso, is sure to make you the center of attention at any rooftop party or BBQ this summer — for all the right reasons.

We write about T-shirts a lot on this blog. And, why not? They’re in our closet, they fit — our jeans would be lost without them. However, we’re much more keen to write about tees that help African children get much-needed school uniforms. Common Threadz uses the same spiel other hip T-shirt moguls do about about up and coming artists creating eco-friendly shirts for celebrities that like their shirts arty and eco-friendly. But, the cash you’re dropping on these shirts directly funds children who can’t afford this expensive necessity. And these kids aren’t going to expensive prep schools — the fact is without a school uniform, they’re not allow to get an education. If you’re thinking about heading over to Threadless this morning (of which we’re big fans), detour and spend the same amount to do a bit of good.

Last month we showed you the sweet partnership between Royal Remarkable and Monsieur T, but now, Monsieur T has dropped the details on its full summer line. Contributions this time around include a neon orange splatter shirt by Ruben Sanchez, an amusing skate-inspired shirt for both boys and girls by Bwana Spoons and a wild-style cap in a zebra print (as one who keeps up with color trends every season, I’ll clue you in on the fact that zebra stripes are hot this season). Each are pictured above, in no particular order. Get them before they sell out.
